Glencolmcille Community First Responder (CFR) Scheme was set up and launched by Lár Chomhairle Paróiste Ghleann Cholm Cille in March 2010 to help bridge the gap and provide a Response Scheme locally in the event of a Cardiac Emergency while awaiting an ambulance.

With funding gathered from both grant-aid and community donations, the group are in the process of placing seven (7) Defibs in easily accessed ‘out-doors’ locations across the parish including;

  • Malinbeg:
Malinbeg Hostel – on the wall facing the car park (Glen side)
  • Malinmore:
Lár Chomhairle office – building wall facing the road
  • Cashel:
Byrnes Food Store – outside wall on storage building opposite the shop
  • Meenaneary:
Meenaneary Community Centre – on wall left of front door
  • Carrick:
Sliabh Liag Lodge, - outside wall on the Main Street
  • Teelin:
The Rusty –  wall of the wooden shed in the Car park opposite the Rusty Bar
  • Míntes:
To be confirmed

Note: Due to Covid19 all Community First Responder Schemes including the GCC Community First Responders Scheme were asked to Stand Down and are currently unable to respond to any calls.

As soon as the ‘go-ahead’ is received from the HSE, the GCC First Responders Scheme will be reactivated with refresher training provided the volunteer Responders and the locations of the Defibs promoted locally.

To join the GCC Community First Responders Scheme please click here or contact the LCPG office or any member of the group directly.  Training (CPR & Defib) will be provided locally by Certified Instructors and Free of Charge.  As a voluntary group & scheme, your help as a Responder would be very much appreciated.

In the case of the following emergencies;

  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Collapse
  • Unconscious Casualties (Known / Unknown Origin)
  • Drowning
  • Choking (Conscious / Unconscious)

Call 999 or 112 Immediately!

Perform CPR (if you know how)
